Artist's Comments

As mentioned in the previous photo, I was in Taiwan beautiful mountain side "Alishan" for a vacation with my family. During the walking along the tracks, one particular part of the railway track caught my eye.

It was this part of the track which had only a glimmer of light at one spot as the sunlight didn't manage to break through most of the thick, heavy and dense forest canopy. So it gave the natural effect of one side of the rail lighting up, the other dull and boring. Like the contrast of both.

In rightful age, the track is at least 200 years old where one of the oldest railways still serve till now. It used to be different in color, but now it just rusted metal.

For this, I used the Adobe Lightroom to post process instead. I choose the Antique greyscale preset and gave an addition vignetting to make the shiny part stand out more.

Alishan RR was built by the Japanese in about 1910. It is by far not the oldest operating RR in the world. RR in England and the USA out date it by 75 years. It is known for having the most complete collection of Shay locomotives.
